I'd just like to dedicate this article to one of my best friends. I seriously don't know where I'd be without him, but I know for sure things could not have turned out as well as they did for me without this guy's help!
I can still remember so well the day we first met... He was the new guy in the class and I always make a point of saying hi to the new person as..well, I guess I remembered what it was like to be new. It was the start of break, on the first day of Secondary School for me and for him and he was sort of hanging around uncertainly outside the classroom door. I went up to him and spoke the first words that came into my head: "Haven't you got any lunch?" He looked up and replied: "Yeah, but are we meant to eat now?" I just looked back and shrugged before replying that I hadn't got a clue and it was a confusing for me as it looked for him. We laughed and wandered off down into B-Block to explore a bit. Twas a funny time, carefree and hopeful..ah, the good old days!
:D
We had a good laugh later on when Thomas made friends with Shane and found out that the first thing I had said to Shane was also the same as what I had asked him, about his lunch!
All seems so long ago now, almost lost in the mists of time, but these memories are still so close in my heart I hope never to forget them. If I think of Thomas and memories then I get a whole collection of images flickering past in my mind: hats, laughter, dancing, bag flinging, chocolate milk drinking competitions, hats yet again, smiles, smiles and more smiles, chatting in class, notes in class, laughter in class, toasts in the canteen (with chocolate milk), trips to the cafeteria together, suits and hats, wrestling each other to the ground, music, angry teachers, enormously long armed teachers, running, jokes, Ugh!, birthdays, cinema trips, school trips, denim jackets, gym lessons with Pianka gone horribly wrong, Shane and Hakon, water fights, snowball fights, the Baldwin, our secret sign language....so many, a never-ending stream of smiles and fun!
But there were the sadder, more serious times aswell of course... Troubled times, missed homeworks, girls we fell for (often enough the same ones at the same time!), life philosophies... Yeah, but we got through it all together
:D
So what's so great about him? So much! We just tend to have this really innate understanding of each other, or so I feel. Though recently we've agreed on less than we used to, I still think that invisible bond of understanding and just pure friendship is there, maybe just partly obscured by recent events and issues. He loves to laugh and tell a funny story, with put-on accents and large gestures...I always tell him he'd make a great actor or comedian, but he says he's too shy. Thought there was that one time when we presented our dream ambition to the class as Mr. Brush and Mr. Scrubbs, made up on the spot, and it was
HILARIOUS! We just have to do that again some time mate!
(;
He's the kind of guy that appears very serious on the outside, but once you get to know him you'll realise that he likes nothing better than having a good time, smiling and cracking jokes -you just gotta get him started! If I was to offer one piece of advice to him, it wouldn't be to work harder at school (he knows what he's gotta do and I'm sure his parents and teachers remind him about that enough!) it's be just to let go a little more, to try new things, take risks and just go with it! Sometimes he needs to wind down a bit and just at least try things, as he tends to make his mind up before knowing the full story....he's maybe a bit over cautious at times which holds him back...but like I said, once he gets started he's a fab guy to have around!
Take the Merite Jeuness awards...
what a night! Best fun I'd had in ages, just coz myself, Thomas and James were together and talking. We just 'gel' together so well, it's incredible! Put us in a crowd with others and we're nothing..but get the three of us alone and we'll soon be in REALLY high-spirits, dragging everyone else around us on a good time! Just because we know each other so well and get along like a house on fire, or maybe even a whole city on fire!
Or put the two of us on a bus and
bang you have some fun things going on! =P
*a toast of chocolate milk is called for*
To the future and greater times together mate! To friendship and to Ugh! Rock on and may the donkeys never sneeze too much in your direction! (;
